St. Hope Primary School, Masaka

A four-classroom block, library and clean water point completed in 2024 โ€” now home to 310 children.

When we first visited Masaka, over 300 children in the surrounding villages were learning under a leaking iron-sheet shed with no desks, no library and no safe water source. HOT Foundation partnered with local leaders, parents and volunteer builders to construct a permanent four-classroom block, a small library stocked with donated books, two staff offices and a borehole for clean drinking water.

The school opened its doors in January 2024 and today serves 310 pupils from the surrounding community. Enrollment has grown every term since, and for the first time, girls in the area are completing primary school at the same rate as boys โ€” largely thanks to the safety and dignity that real sanitation blocks provide.

This project was fully funded by donors like you, in partnership with the Masaka District Education Office and built with local labour, putting money directly back into the community that needed it most.
